Bullying in the Community

Bullying does not only happen in schools but can also take place in the local area, especially in parks, streets and youth clubs.  It is important that you take this bullying just as seriously as bullying at school.

When bullying moves into the community you can talk to...

  • community police teams
  • youth and community workers
  • the school
  • youth-offending teams

You should....

  • be there for your child, listen!
  • keep a log of every incident
  • report it to the police every time anything happens
  • make sure your child is as safe as possible, perhaps there are certain areas they should avoid if they are on their own
  • encourage your child to get involved in other activities in the area so they don’t get isolated from children living around them
  • resist the urge to confront other parents or the children involved yourself
