Mini-Pals and Playtime Pals

Find out about Mini-Pals for years 3 and 4 and Playtime Pals designed for Year 5 and 6.

Mini-Pals is a fun workshop for years 3 and 4 focussing on friendships. The whole class take part in a team game, have discussions and make their own “Friend Ship”. We talk a lot about friendly behaviour, what it is we like about each other and how we make friends.

We talk a little bit about falling out and bullying and who we should talk to if we need to. At the end of the workshop the whole class make a colourful paper-chain full of friendly ideas and hopefully it will be displayed as a reminder of positive behaviour.

Playtime Pals are usually Year 5 or Year 6 children who have been chosen to attend a morning session to share ideas about making the playground a friendly place to be. You will talk about working together as a team, how to be a good listener and how to sort out little problems on the playground.

The idea is that your school will have a group of “Pals” or “Buddies” who will take turns every play time to encourage good friendships by playing games together and being generally helpful. All the children will know who you are and may ask for your support. Quite often you will be given a badge, cap or band to wear so everyone knows you’re the buddy. It is quite a responsible role and worthwhile if you enjoy helping others.
