Being Gay
Families are all different. Some have one mum and one dad. Some
families just have one mum, or one dad, we call these single parent
families. Some children live with foster parents, or adoptive parents.
Some children live with different relatives or family friends.
Some
families have two dads or two mums who live together. When a woman
loves another woman, or a man loves another man, they can sometimes be
called “gay”, if that’s how they like to be described --- but we
shouldn’t use the word to mean something unkind.
The most important thing about families is not who is in them, but how much they care about each other. Families should be a place where we feel cared for, and safe and happy being ourselves.
