Cornwall Council Equality and Diversity Service

Cornwall Council Equality and Diversity Service

We work strategically across the Children's Services Authority & in partnership with schools and other agencies to promote Equality & Diversity in Cornwall. We are committed to the principle that everyone is entitled to equal rights regardless of age, race, gender, disability, sexual orientation, culture, religion or belief.

Equality and Diversity: What is it all about?
We deliver Cornwall's Ethnic Minority Achievement Service and Traveller Education Service as a single, combined service. Groups we support include Black, Asian and minority ethnic pupils at risk of underachieving; Gypsies, Roma and Irish Travellers; those for whom English is an Additional Language; refugees and asylum seekers; as well as Fairground or Circus Travellers and New Travellers.

We work in partnership with families and schools to support children and young people who have interrupted learning.

We help schools to provide an ethos that is welcoming to all the community by reflecting their cultures and backgrounds positively in the curriculum.

We work in partnership with schools and other agencies to celebrate similarities and differences through events, projects & initiatives.

We offer training & awareness raising through local networks, seminars and conferences to support schools and other agencies around equality, diversity, language and cultural issues:

We provide advice, guidance & signposting to other services & agencies.
